While taking a bus in Chicago, I got into conversation with a dude holding a guitar case. We talked about music and t-shirts, and eventually, music t-shirts.

The vast majority of his ideas were, in all honesty, either awful or tremendously trademark-infringing, yet they spilled out of him continuously over the course of fifteen long blocks. Then, as he stood to exit at his stop, he nonchalantly said "Oh, man, you should make a sketch of Woody Guthrie's guitar. That would be really cool."

I will never know if he was setting up that final gem, like a comedian would a joke, or if he was generally just speaking every idea that popped in his head in the hopes that one of them would both be awesome and involve a legendary musical reference covered by public domain, but I am enormously grateful either way.

Here's to you, guy on the bus. You may hit 1 for 50, but it's a hell of a swing when you do.
